Our heritage

IBM Systems

IBM was once the pinnacle of corporate technology, and our staff fondly remember its iconic mainframes and networking devices such as the 3174, 3725, 3080, and 3090. As the birthplace of big data, IBM was a leader in the field, and our staff's experience in this environment gives them a solid foundation in big data principles and technologies.

Lotus Software

Lotus Software appeared in IBM corporate sites in the early 1990s, championed by data managers in slippers and smoking pipes. It was a niche product, an odd one out in an IBM world ruled by central hosts. Notes was a distributed system, which made it easy for users to create and share applications without IT approval. This led to the proliferation of "critical" non-sanctioned applications, which IT staff colloquially referred to as "popcorn systems" because they would pop up where least expected. In essence Lotus Notes was the first birthplace of the citizen developer. Power to the people?

IBM Lotus Notes and Domino

One sunny morning in July 1995, we awoke to the news that IBM had acquired Lotus Development Corporation. Apparently, it was cheaper for IBM to buy Lotus than to license Lotus to its 400,000 employees. This new chapter saw innovation and increased revenue on existing sales, as IBM extended services offered to existing Lotus customers. Unfortunately, new functionality came with a price tag, and IBM stuck to standards that suited it while the industry innovated around it. During this time Microsoft made valuable ground in bridging the market.

HCL Notes and Domino

IBM sold HCL its collaboration software suite in December 2018 for $1.8 billion. HCL has slowly resurrected the platform, hiring key IBMers and stabilizing the platform. Under HCL, Domino has received regular key upgrades, albeit this may be too late for the platform to regain its former prominence in the market.

Linux and Open Source

Linux systems have matured over the years and now form the backbone of most big data systems. Linux distributions have improved and are now stable and fully featured. If you need a software package that is platform specific, you will find an open-source equivalent in the Linux world. The power of Linux is its ability to configure everything, but this also means that you may need our services to configure it correctly.

Migration and Upgradation services

IBM's Lotus Notes and Domino was one of the more expensive software application platforms to purchase, maintain and upgrade. Lotus Notes and Domino would run on Windows and Linux, it would also run on AIX, iSeries and zSeries mainframes but obtaining the appropriate SKU's were challenging and expensive. We can help you consolidate your Domino domains and move you to a virtual environment such as Proxmox as quickly as you can say sign me up!

Our agile and flexible developers will deliver what you need and more. We have professional labs with software installed to emulate most environments, so we can give you a clear overview of the process and what can be achieved.

Our team of analysts will help you audit your systems and define the desired outcomes for a successful project. They will guide you through the available options and help you envision the possibilities.

Migrating from one system to the next is a complex task, and fidelity is paramount. As a project, there are many ways to approach the goals and objectives, and to ensure that there are no unplanned hurdles that could slow down the process. Our migration consultants are all experienced professionals with a proven track record of success.

Auditing and consolidation are key indicators of a successful migration project. Reducing the number of servers reduces license and support requirements, and simplifies understanding of system interactions. A key requirement is a transparent migration with minimal downtime, which is what we specialize in.

Every upgrade and consolidation is a change to your production environment, and we aim to minimize disruptions. We provide a comprehensive support desk during your migration to ensure that you are well taken care of.
